Raise Funds for your Comminity with 'Food for Families' seminars!

superfruit_food_logoFood for Families seminars are being run throughout 2012 as a fund raising event for your Pre-school, Primary School, Day care centre or Community Centre so now parents can gain invaluable information about family nutrition and raise money for your childs facilities at the same time!

With so much confusion about what’s good for us and what’s not, it can be difficult to know the difference between healthy and hype.

At the ’Food for Families’ 45 minute seminar you’ll  learn the essentials of nutrition including specific needs for growing bodies, simple techniques to encourage your children to WANT to eat well.

You will also come away with more confidence to make the most beneficial decisions for your family by gaining insight into the labelling and marketing of our food.

When it comes to food and children I firmly believe that we as parents need to focus on nourishing them rather than just 'feeding' them but big food giants make that very confusing. I get excited about empowering parents with the skills to navigate through the rubbish and get to the real stuff!!

February Special Feature Business!

PDRJen Hitchman of ‘Peninsula Dispute Resolution’ began her career in law as a Family and Wills and estates lawyer, her dissatisfaction with the way that the Courts and lawyers dealt with family based conflicts inspired Jen to pursue her current career path. “When we emigrated, I took the opportunity to build on the legal background to do some further studies at Uni in conflict resolution and then qualified as a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, says Jen.

The Art of Hearing - Sacred Living in February 2012

Sacred_living_2Having a spiritual practice is very important for being able to connect and to tap in with what’s really going on within. As people we are all subjected to constant barrage of energy coming in all different directions that the more time we spend in aligning with ourselves and Divine Spirit the stronger, the wiser and the more serene we become. But the idea or implementing yet something else that we are ‘suppose’ to be doing causes stress and anxiety; the exact opposite of what we are trying to create.

So how can we unplug and connect? How do we grow a relationship with our soul when we don’t have 4 hours to go and meditate on a mountain somewhere?

Herbs Lending a Helping Hand

Herbs_signKnowing how to use herbs for medicinal purposes I get very excited seeing them at the nursery but have not been overly keen on growing some of them because I'd need a huge harvest to be able to utilise them for their health benefits and some can be quite invasive. But now there are no excuses!

I'll admit I'm not a great gardener, but I love gardening and I'm only relatively new to it (my husband is a landscaper by trade and he's always done most of the outside stuff and we havn't had a lot of space until now) so now I can only give it a go and get better, right?

I've always had some culinary herbs in pots and have recently been getting more and more into the vegie garden and doing a lot of reading. I've found out about some tried and tested organic gardening techniques to make my journey to having a satistying and sustainable backyard a little smoother! I find so many inspiring ideas in the huge range of magazines, seriously, I did not know there were so many out there until recently and now I find it hard to walk out of the newsagent with less than five mags! So with this article I'm being on of 'those' people who are writing from an academic point of view rather than from one of experience when it comes to gardening, with the following information being a collaboration of several resources because I'm excited about this information I love sharing what I learn, especially if it means you go out and get some more herbs in your garden too.

Here's what I've learnt about keeping chooks!

Day_6Let me start by saying, there are chook experts out there who can be consulted if you really want to know what's what! But in the last few weeks I've been asked "what does having chooks involve" quite a few times actually, because more and more people are interested in having chooks in their backyard. So who are these experts? Ella from www.chooktopia.com & the ladies from www.citychicks.com.au are the first two places I would start. Of course there are books but they all say different things and you can't really ask them questions if you're unsure of something.

So, here’s what I’ve learnt about having chooks in the last month of being a chook owner and 6 month of reading about being a chook owner!!

The allure of Beth!

IMG_4646Beginning of August 2011 - Once again I have drama to write about, my life is not particularly drama filled, but when something happens, there’s no holding back. So I leave for netball at 9am on a Tuesday morning, as usual, in a rush, dishes still on the sink, the spare bed covered in washing and a to-do-list as long as my arm awaiting my return.

I usually play GD (that’s Goal Defence for non-netballers) but today I grabbed the GK (Goal Keeper) bib to avoid the giant girl who’s usually in GA on the other team, the match up of her and I is quite comical when I’m 5’4” and she probably close to 6’ something…. but it turns out she wasn’t in goals after all, she played in Centre on our shortest player – far more uneven and comical! Anyway enough netball talk, that info will make sense in a minute!
